SLCompare is a comparison platform for Second Life land rentals and breedable markets, operated from Ireland, EU. We are the data controller for all personal data collected through slcompare.com.

2. What data we collect

Business account data — email address, Second Life avatar username, and avatar UUID, provided when registering a business listing.

Listing data — estate or market name, parcel and stall details (price, prims, size, location), images (logo and banner), and description — provided by the business through the portal or SLC Bridge.

Scraped listing data — parcel and estate information gathered from publicly accessible estate websites. No personal data is collected through scraping.

In-world bridge data — Second Life avatar UUID and avatar name of the bridge owner, region name, and bridge position — sent automatically when the SLC Bridge object is rezzed in-world.

Usage data — anonymous session identifiers, page views, search queries, and click events (e.g. Visit in Second Life button). No personal data is attached to these events.

Contact form data — name, email address, and message content submitted via the contact form. Processed by Formspree on our behalf.

Session data — authentication tokens required to keep you signed in to the business portal. No password is ever stored — we use secure one-time login codes sent to your email.

3. How we use your data

• To create and manage your business listing on SLCompare
• To display your estate or market to renters browsing the site
• To verify your Second Life avatar identity at registration
• To send account notifications — verification codes, approval emails, and bridge status alerts
• To process wallet transactions and subscription payments (future feature)
• To display anonymous platform activity and usage statistics
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and protect the integrity of the platform
• To comply with our legal obligations under Irish and EU law

4. Lawful basis for processing

• Contract performance — account management, listing display, portal access, email notifications
• Legitimate interest — platform safety, fraud prevention, anonymous usage analytics
• Consent — optional communications
• Legal obligation — compliance with Irish and EU law, GDPR

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, share, or trade your personal data. Ever.

We use the following trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements:

• Supabase — database and authentication (West EU region)
• Resend — transactional email delivery (Ireland region)
• Cloudflare — hosting, DNS, and CDN
• Formspree — contact form processing

We may disclose data to law enforcement where required by law.

6. International transfers

Your data is stored on Supabase servers in the West EU region. Any transfers outside the EU use standard contractual clauses and GDPR-compliant safeguards.

7. Data retention

• Active business accounts — retained while your listing is active on SLCompare
• Deleted listings — personal data (email, avatar name, UUID) permanently deleted within 30 days of removal
• Anonymous usage data — retained for up to 90 days then purged
• Contact form messages — retained for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, then deleted
• Wallet and transaction records (future) — retained for the lifetime of your account, then permanently deleted with it

8. Your rights under GDPR

As an EU resident, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data via your portal or by contacting us
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Restriction — request we limit processing of your data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent

To exercise any right, contact us (subject: Privacy Policy). We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication tokens, and access controls. No passwords are ever stored — login is handled via secure one-time codes sent to your email. To report any suspicious activity, please contact us (subject: Privacy Policy).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. For significant changes we will notify registered businesses by email. Continued use of SLCompare after changes constitutes acceptance.
